Casino News - November 5th, 2009 - Written by Glen
As if the Seminole Tribe of Florida were not having enough trouble, a malfunctioning machine recently tried to pay a resident of Daytona Beach a $166 million dollar jackpot. After reportedly pumping nearly $80 dollars in to the machine, Bill Seebeck of Daytona Beach heard the familiar bells and whistles of a jackpot.
His screen flashed $166,666,666.65.
Though an obvious error, Seebeck's excitement had mounted and he thought he had become the luckiest slot player ever. This jackpot in all of its enormity is much larger than even the progressive jackpots with nationwide links, which at best have paid no more than four million dollars.
Much to Seebeck's chagrin, casino officials informed him that this was an obvious malfunction and that he would not be paid. Even with his level of betting, the maximum jackpot he could have obtained would have been $2,500 dollars.
Seebeck had reportedly began mentioning the involvement of lawyers, which prompted the casino to attempt to make amends on the situation. Seebeck was awarded an undisclosed quantity of cash in order to settle the situation.
The computer glitch is being investigated by both the casino and the manufacturer of the slot machine in order to prevent any future break downs such as this. While Seebeck had been compensated, the idea of winning $166 million then having it stripped away must have been a crushing blow to his morale. Such instances seldom happen at Florida Online Casinos, which is a great alternative to Florida land based casinos.
